Change to make a better world is something common in today’s parlance. Portugal has been the choice for many foreigners seeking a green destination to start a different life. Desertification of the inland left many areas and villages with almost no population. Through this wave of newcomers, both foreigners and Portuguese seeking a more sustainable future, the country’s inlands now find a new breath of life. The report will focus on the communities and eco-villages that have come about recently in the district of Coimbra. Permaculture, environmental practices, reconstruction of the villages, and the willingness to live with and closer to nature and human nature are some of the themes which underpin the work around two specific communities.
